The most wonderful experience that I have had in a native Maori village. The purchasing of the tickets, the instructions to meet with the tour guide, the logistics the friendliness of every one involved in the event. Excellent and I most definitely will recommend this to my family and friends.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the trails add over the village tour?
The village tour is guided and is about the community and how it uses the geothermal ground. The trails, which opened in December 2021, are a self-paced walk through untouched geothermal landscape — mud pools and steaming lakes — with the best photography on the site.
Is the corn really cooked in a hot pool?
Yes. Corn on the cob cooked in the village's own hot pool is included, and it is the clearest demonstration of what living on a geothermal field actually means day to day.
How long should I allow?
Between one and three hours. The guided village portion is about an hour; the rest depends on how long you spend on the trails.
Is food included?
Only the corn. Tea and coffee, lunch and bottled water are all excluded.
Where do I check in?
At the admissions building, which is signposted outside — the same entrance as the standard village tour, at 17 Tryon Street.
